cucumber-yogurt dip (tzatziki)

Traditional tzatziki sauce is a staple in Greek cuisine; it is cool, tangy, and delicious on a variety of different dishes, including grilled chicken, lamb burgers, or simply served with pita bread. I included three different green herbs in this recipe - dill, parsley, and mint - to boost the freshness and flavor.

  • Plain Greek yogurt (3/4 cup)

  • Cucumber (1 whole cucumber; peeled, seeded and cut into tiny cubes)

  • Red onion (1 half onion, finely diced)

  • Fresh garlic (1/2 teaspoon, minced)

  • Fresh dill (1/3 cup, chopped)

  • Fresh parsley 1/3 cup, chopped)

  • Fresh mint (1/3 cup, chopped)

  • Lemon juice (2 tablespoons)

  • Salt (1 and 1/2 teaspoons)

  • Black pepper (1 teaspoon)

  1. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, blend all the ingredients until evenly combined.

  2. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. Serve cold.

  3. Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
