oreo chocolate truffles

This indulgent bite-sized treat is so simple to make and includes just a few ingredients! It's the perfect end to a dinner party, or a fun housewarming gift idea. You can decorate the truffles with a variety of colored sprinkles or chopped nuts, or drizzle with a contrasting chocolate color such as white chocolate.

  • Oreo cookies (1 16-ounce package)

  • Cream cheese (8 ounce package, softened)

  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips (3 cups)

  • Colored sprinkles or chopped nuts for decorating

  1. In a food processor, combine all the Oreo cookies from the package and the softened cream cheese. Combine and then pulse until the truffle dough comes together in a ball.

  2. Roll the dough out onto a large plate.

  3. Form the dough into bite-sized balls and set on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. Place the cookie sheet with truffles into the freezer for 15 minutes to let the truffles harden.

  5. While the truffles cool, microwave the semi-sweet chocolate chips in a heat-safe bowl for 30-second intervals, stirring between each. The chocolate will slowly temper and melt.

  6. Remove the truffles from the freezer. Set out another tray lined with parchment paper.

  7. Using a toothpick, dip each truffle into the tempered chocolate, ensuring the truffle is evenly coated.

  8. Place each truffle on the second platter and decorate with sprinkles or nuts. Repeat until all truffles are coated and decorated.

  9. Place the dipped truffles on the second platter into the freezer for another 15 minutes to harden the chocolate coating. Remove and serve or keep in the refrigerator in an air-tight container until ready to eat.
