'Tis the season for bridal showers and baby showers! I feel so blessed to have so many friends who are celebrating engagements, weddings, and new babies this year, and many of these milestones involve party celebrations - which means party favors!
If you love to bake and you love craft projects, then you are just a few steps away from unique, delicious, homemade party favors. In a previous post, I detailed the recipe for toffee caramel popcorn, which you can package in plastic bags and tie with twine labels for a bridal or baby shower. The Etsy marketplace features some adorable tags that read "Ready to Pop" and "He Popped the Question," so that you can match the favor to any occasion.
Specifically for a baby shower, you can dress up everyone's favorite Oreo cookie with melting chocolate and colored sprinkles to make baby rattle favors. Melting chocolate is available in multiple colors on Amazon; the Wilton candy melts are inexpensive so you can purchase multiple colors depending on the party theme. In a small bowl, melt the chocolate in 30-second increments in the microwave and stir with a spoon until smooth. Using popsicle sticks, you can dip each Oreo in the melted chocolate, place on a layer of wax paper, and drizzle with decorate sprinkles. The melting chocolate will harden after several minutes and your favors are ready to package!
While these favors take some time, attention, and special packaging, they also are fun and can be highly personalized to you and your friends. Nothing beats a homemade gift!
